The Short Story of Cookie Names

Why are the cookies named after your chickens?

Here’s how: June of 2017 we sold our first eggs. A simple transaction. Just a dozen eggs. Boring.
I decided to make some fresh bread to eat with the fresh eggs. Baguettes, round loaves, basic good bread. I used Jacques Pepin’s recipe (the master of the baguette), and the addition was a success.
I thought to myself, “How about something sweet?”
I’m not much of a baker, but I would make Ken white chocolate cranberry cookies from time to time.
That was the first cookie we sold in the little original farm stand shed. People liked them and asked for more flavors. So I made more.
Easy, Peasy, until we almost had fifteen variations. It became difficult for Ken to tell them all apart. Chocolate with nuts, chocolate with oatmeal, chocolate with nuts and oatmeal.
We needed to create a shorthand code for each cookie to avoid confusion.

Out of the blue, Ken, in a stroke of pure brilliance said;

“Why don’t you name them after your favorite chickens?”
So we did.
